False Creek
Stretching from Sunset Beach near the Burrard Street Bridge
east to almost Main Street, this saltwater inlet is surrounded
by walking trails, markets and marinas.
Be
sure to set aside an hour or two of your charter to explore
the Granville
Island Public Market, an indoor collection of green grocers,
butchers, bakers, fishmongers, florists, and craft vendors.
The island also features casual restaurants, art school,
shops, theatres, art galleries and more.
English Bay
Described as one of the most densely populated areas in
Canada, English Bay and Vancouver's West End is a vibrant
community rich in history, with something for everyone --
popular beaches, world class shops, walking and biking trails
and Vancouver's famous Stanley Park.
In the summer, hundreds of boats dot English Bay for a unique
front-row seat to Vancouver's Celebration
of Light, an international musical fireworks competition.
Coal Harbour
The shores of the city of Vancouver are one of the best
locations for entertaining on the West Coast. And in December,
the nights light up with the Carol
Ships Parade of Lights, where nearly one hundred boats
are decorated with in excess of 150,000 lights.
Indian Arm
Spectacular waterfalls and North America's most southerly
fjord makes Indian Arm
a remarkable cruising destination. Approximately 17 KM in
length, with water depths exceeding 800 ft, Indian Arm is
a paradise for kayakers, divers and sightseers alike.
The north end of the arm features the historic Wigwam
Inn, built in the early 1900's. Visited by wealthy
aristocrats like John D. Rockefeller and John Jacob Astor
near the turn of the century, today it is a privately operated
inn owned by the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club.
Gulf Islands
Possibly the most scenic cruising waters in the northern
hemisphere, this region consists of over 200 islands -- many small
and uninhabited.
The six largest islands, Salt Spring, Pender, Mayne, Galiano,
Saturna and Gabriola, are home to many full service resorts,
spas, bed & breakfasts, shops, galleries and markets.
Sunshine Coast
The sunniest place on the BC coast, the Sunshine Coast boasts
180 km of unspoiled wilderness. Although part of the mainland,
it is thought of as an island since it is only reachable
by boat / ferry or airplane.
Artists showcase their work in local galleries, and the
region features writing and music festivals that draw visitors
from all over the world. |
